Boxx are taking Milton Keynes by storm in Customer Service Awards

16th March 2020 by Kelly Green

Wow!! What an incredible start to 2020 it has been for team Boxx…

On Thursday 12th March we attended the prestigious MKBAA Awards where back in February, we were thrilled to be announced as finalists in the ‘Customer Service’ category, sponsored by The Holiday Inn.

We’d already been shortlisted and down to the final 8 MK businesses for ‘Customer Service’, after completing stage one of their ‘Vision for a Healthier City’ themed awards, at the end of 2019.

To get through to the final 4 in such a tough category really was a great achievement for us and we couldn’t be prouder of our Service Delivery Team for working so hard and getting us this far in our very first application to the MKBAA’s.

Well done to the category winners Acorn Early Years Foundation and also to the other finalists Mirus IT and Pets 2 Places. It just goes to show what a fantastic array of businesses we have here in Milton Keynes, doing great things to serve customers well and promote healthier living and working.

SME Award Win

The MKBAA Awards came hot on the heels of the recent SME MK & Bucks Business Awards, celebrated on 27th Feb (read more on our previous blog) where we were thrilled to take home the Gold Award for Service Excellence, sponsored by Whittlebury Park.

SME Award Win

This win is such an amazing accolade for the team, who all work tirelessly to ensure our customers are at the heart of everything we do. It was quite a milestone for Directors James Green & Dean Burgin, who were captured hearing the news and taking a moment to celebrate the accomplishment in this SME Awards video…

Providing good service is something that we have always been exceptionally passionate about and James quotes “We strongly believe that by looking after the health and wellbeing of our staff, they in turn will look after our customers!”

But you don't just have to take our word for it, Trustpilot has hundreds of great reviews from our satisfied customers. Why not take a look…

Are you ready to support working from home…?

9th March 2020 by Kelly Green

With the benefits of being able to work remotely on the rise more than ever before – it is now critical that businesses can work as effectively away from the office or usual place of work in order to remain successful.

Whether it’s to allow employees to spend more time at home with their families and improve work-life balance, as contingency plans in the event of power outages, bad weather or health scares, or to improve customer service, there is no longer the need to compromise on productivity when working remotely.

Remote Working Facts

But how can I enable my team to work from home...?

Cloud Telephony

The introduction of Hosted VoIP has allowed many businesses to thrive outside of the office with several features, such as call flexibility and analytics/reporting available via desktop or mobile apps, that weren’t previously available on-the-fly with traditional telephony. These apps have the same functionality as a desk phone and come with collaborative features such as video conferencing and text chat.

Unified Comms

This is the term used to describe converging solutions to integrate some, or all, of the following features to provide a next-generation and future-proof communication service: Voice / Video / Chat / Email / Directory Services / Document Sharing / Desktop & Application Sharing.

A Unified Communications solution is suitable for any size business looking to improve productivity, encourage collaborative team working, attract more diverse talent and/or increase business efficiency.

Office 365

Microsoft are at the forefront with their world-recognisable, best-in-class suite of Office 365 products. Cloud-based, reliable and always up to date, their desktop applications are designed to meet the demands of your business. Proving to be growing in popularity is Teams, which enables true collaboration in real-time.

Boxx WIN Service Excellence Award!

2nd March 2020 by Kelly Green

On Thursday 27th February we were delighted to attend the SME MK & Bucks Business Awards held at Whittlebury Park alongside so many aspiring, growing and successful local businesses organised by nationwide business award specialists Events & PR.

We were thrilled to be shortlisted in two categories, ‘Milton Keynes Business of the Year’ sponsored by Milton Keynes Business Centre as well as ‘Service Excellence’ sponsored by Whittlebury Park and we couldn't wait to share the evening with like-minded businesses all keen to celebrate the joint successes of our thriving local business community.

With over 20 awards up for grabs, the evening didn’t disappoint. Team Boxx shared a table with PragmatiQ Solutions, Red Giraffe and Nipperbout and were spoilt with amazing food and flowing drinks at the beautiful venue of Whittlebury Park.

Networking was enjoyed throughout the evening with business friends both old and new including: University of Buckingham, St James Place Wealth Management, Worktree, Cygnus, Milton Keynes University Hospital Trust, Metrobank, Xen Consulting, Arthur Ellis Mental Health Support and many more, before settling down to hear those all-important award announcements…

We were exceptionally impressed with the achievements and talents of the entrepreneurs from the Natwest Accelerator Hub and were pleased to see Lakechia Jeanne from Girls in Science take ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ and in their own ‘Entrepreneur of the Year Award’ Natasha Barnes-Hutchinson of Spoilt Rotten Dog won Gold, Rosamund McFadden of Breastfeeding Hub took Silver and Afro Ndiritu of Big Coach Little Coach secured Bronze. We are looking forward to working with Sharon Rai and the Natwest Accelerator team throughout 2020 in supporting future cohorts of entrepreneurs.

The ‘Milton Keynes Business of the Year’ award was an exceptionally tough category and we were happy to see our client Nexus Fusion take the Silver award and Mirus IT take the Gold.

We Won!

The evening finished on a complete high with everyone on our table winning an award – office buddy Jessica Compton of PragmatiQ Solutions won ‘Apprentice of the Year’, childcare provider Nipperbout secured ‘Buckinghamshire Business of the Year’ and Joe Gilbert of Red Giraffe stole the double for ‘Website of the Year’ and ‘Green Award’ for their carbon offsetting programme.

And of course, we were ecstatic to be announced as Gold Winner in the ‘Service Excellence’ category. This award means so much to us and we are immensely proud of the whole team who have worked so hard to achieve this.

Boxx Web Listings

24th February 2020 by Kelly Green

When people are in search of something; a product, as service, a place, somewhere to eat or where to take their sick cat - what do they do and where do they go…?

Well it’s not the 1990’s anymore so the Yellow Pages are a thing of the past and in today’s modern world, 90% of customer’s search is done – you guessed it – online.

Searches take place in many more places than you might first think…

In addition to Google, Bing or even Yahoo, there’s Apple Maps, Facebook, Trip Advisor, Sat Nav’s and many, many, more.

Additionally, 45% of Google searches are now for location-based information, such as opening times or contact information, so it’s never been more crucial for businesses of all sizes to optimise their online presence.

But as a business and provider of said products, services, places to eat (or take a sick cat) where you end up in those potential customer’s search results? And is your information correct?

Consistency is key when it comes to online search as complete & consistent location information everywhere will make you rank higher. And did you know that if not, your rankings will suffer?

But managing your listings and keeping this information up-do-date on all the platforms manually is a difficult and extremely time-consuming task.

That’s where Web Listings can help…

What is Web Listings?

Web Listings is a new single and easy-to-use platform where you can add and update ALL your company information all in one go.

How does it work?

  1. Update your information – Keep everything up-to-date in the dashboard, including your opening hours and holidays schedules. Don't worry, it’s quick and easy!
  2. Spread the word – One click saves your update and spreads it across the internet, offering unmatched distribution to over 50+ search engines, social media review sites, apps, maps and more.
  3. and less people show up at the wrong time.

Why does this matter?

  • Increased web traffic - Accuracy matters and it improves not only your online findability (SEO) but also places you higher in search results, so more people find and choose your business.
  • Welcome new prospects – Whether visiting in person or contacting you by phone, having the correct contact information in all places will most certainly increase the chances of them reaching you.
  • Happier Customers – New opening hours? The last things you want is a visitor standing in front of a closed door!

How to grow your business in 2020?

17th February 2020 by Kelly Green

As a nation, the UK is increasingly dependent on digital technologies and this is only set to rise as we move through this new decade.

We’ve all felt frustrated when the internet grinds to a halt or when the download estimate for a large file is minutes – even hours – instead of seconds.

These days anyone would be annoyed at having to save files to a USB stick (how quickly things become out-dated?!) because the internet connection isn’t up-to-scratch.

These frustrations may seem small in isolation but when you consider the effect they have on business; you would be naïve to think they are just part and parcel of modern day working.

In fact, the impact they can have on productivity is significant, which in turn reduces cost effectiveness and ultimately a business’ bottom line.

Be forward-thinking…

With cloud-based applications becoming mainstream for businesses of all sizes and with companies from every sector, the length and breadth of the UK, needing to migrate to internet delivered telephony solutions over the coming years, never has there been such an urgent need for digital connectivity that is truly fit for purpose.

Unlock your business potential…

As we sit on the brink of this digital revolution, with internet connectivity now the most critical business tool, those ‘making-do’ with an incompetent service or not truly understanding the potential a robust connection brings, is holding back more than many businesses realise.

Any business looking to grown in 2020 and beyond, NEEDS access to the best possible internet-based services, in order to grow.

Direct Internet Access (DIA) is a term widely used, often not understood, yet crucial for businesses wanting to maximise efficiencies and opportunities.

What is Direct Internet Access?

Ultimately, DIA is an umbrella term for a variety of business-grade internet services, common in the fact that they often offer uncontended and symmetrical bandwidth, which means that there is no line sharing and upload speed is the same as download speed.

Crucially, this allows multiple users to be doing multiple tasks at the same time, which is vital when utilising cloud-based storage, unified comms tools and other online software.

Robust digital infrastructure is a necessity…

Every company will have different objectives and ambitions and Direct Internet Access can be delivered in a variety of ways (including GEA, GPON, EoFTTC, FTTP, Leased Line) to accommodate these priorities, with speeds up to 1 Gigabit available in many UK cities.

The features and benefits of DIA can be explored further on our DIA page and to understand exactly what each of the services offers, including explanations of the (sometimes confusing) terminology, check out our download below.

Connecting MK in 2020

10th February 2020 by Kelly Green

2019 was a great year for Boxx and for 2020 we have even bigger plans…

Our focus for this year is two-pronged.

  • To support businesses migrating from traditional to IP telephony in MK, ahead of the planned 2025 ISDN switch off.
  • Improving internet connectivity for Milton Keynes businesses utilising the new gigabit speed CityFibre infrastructure.

Telephony Migration

With many years’ experience in providing telephony solutions nationwide, we’ve been at the forefront of BT Openreach’s plans to replace the use of analogue telephony in favour of IP (i.e. voice solutions delivered via Internet Protocol).

We’ve have made it our mission to educate businesses about the options available, from VoIP (Voice over IP) to SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), which can bring many benefits, including cheaper calls, improved call handling, higher call quality and greater resilience.

As a leading supplier of telephony in and around our hometown of Milton Keynes, where better to start than in the local community?

Milton Keynes has a thriving business economy with expansive growth plans ahead, so it is imperative that organisations both large and small are not only aware of the upcoming changes to the telephony landscape, but also equipped to migrate in a way that best suits their business.

Providing VoIP to Milton Keynes Businesses

MK Gallery are just one of a portfolio of Milton Keynes organisations for whom we have not only implemented VoIP migration, but also utilised technology to meet their overall business objectives.

Kate Chadwick – Deputy Director (MK Gallery) quotes…

Our partnership with Boxx began with the provision of connectivity, but our relationship quickly developed, and it soon became clear that they genuinely wanted to enable us to deliver on our own business goals. As we neared a critical project deadline, the grand opening of the new MK Gallery, Boxx proactively guided us, and liaised seamlessly with our outsourced IT Partner to achieve the implementation of numerous business-critical telephony & connectivity projects in a timely manner. In addition to championing us through this milestone launch period, Boxx exceeded our expectations and have become advocates of MK Gallery and we have enjoyed working with them in positioning our new gallery firmly on the MK map.”

Delivering the Fastest Internet in Milton Keynes

Supplying Direct Internet Access connectivity solutions to UK businesses has also been an established key offering from boxx but the arrival of CityFibre infrastructure (the UK’s largest alternative provider of wholesale fibre) to Milton Keynes is enabling MK businesses to future-proof from the ground up.

With an ever-increasing dependency on digital technologies and the rise of cloud-based services, businesses are able to realise productivity improvements and increase efficiencies when full fibre connectivity is deployed in Gigabit Cities, like Milton Keynes.

We recently delivered an impressive 5 Gigabit internet solution to Milton Keynes University Hospital over the CityFibre network. Not only was this a landmark delivery for us, the solution was also a record-breaking offering from CityFibre too, clearly demonstrating our ability to work strategically with specific business objectives in mind and ‘thinking outside the boxx’ in terms of how to deliver the solutions required to achieve them.

Connecting MK

If you’re looking for faster, more resilient internet connectivity in Milton Keynes, we’d love to help you understand how you can utilise telecommunications to work more strategically to achieve business growth.
