Finalist in ‘Keeping Britain Working’ Award

12th October 2020 by Kelly Green

Of all the awards to be shortlisted for, we’re particularly proud of this one…

Finalists in the Keeping Britain Working category of the Comms National Awards (CNA’s), for our work with Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH).

When we first met with MKUH at the end of 2019, unreliable internet connectivity was hampering the digital transformation plans for the hospital. They had migrated to Microsoft 365 but struggled to use it, and patients were unable to access guest wi-fi due to the lack of available bandwidth.

They clearly had an urgent need for connectivity but were struggling to fulfil the requirement due to timeframes & capacity.

At this point, neither us, nor MKUH, could have predicted just how much things would change in the months ahead, nor just how critical sufficient and reliable connectivity would prove to be…

In Dec 2019 (after just 36 days of meeting) we deployed an initial 5/10Gbps CityFibre connection and despite the challenges of working through a global pandemic, a further two diverse carrier 5/10Gbps connections were installed during the early stages of lockdown.

This record-breaking delivery and increased bandwidth meant the hospital were much better equipped to cope during the pandemic. They have been able to...

  • Make use of the collaborative working tools within Microsoft 365, allowing staff to work flexibly, supporting social distancing yet without compromising quality of care.
  • Conduct video consultations with patients at home, which wouldn’t have been able to take place face-to-face.
  • Allow 4000 devices to connect to the public wi-fi service every 24hrs
  • Power wi-fi calling in areas of the hospital where mobile signal doesn't reach. A lifeline for patients who have been unable to have visitors.

Boxx are proud to have supported our local hospital in this project and are thrilled to have now been recognised for this in the Comms National Awards (CNA’s).

The CNA’s are normally a time for the industry to come together and celebrate the successes of the year in a variety of categories, including resellers, vendors and businesses alike.

Obviously, that is not able to happen this year but keen for the show to go on, the awards will be streamed live from London on 22nd October and we’ll be tuning in to watch with anticipation!

New Products & Pricing for CityFibre services with Boxx

28th September 2020 by Kelly Green

Check if you can access gigabit speed internet at your business premises...

Earlier this year CityFibre announced Boxx as a City Champion for Milton Keynes and since then we have been working in partnership with the infrastructure provider to ensure that all businesses and service organisations in our hometown of Milton Keynes and the other Gigabit Cities across the UK are aware of and have access to, the full fibre network that has been built by CityFibre.

The need for full fibre is greater now than ever before and gigabit speed internet (equal to 1000Mbps) is here to support businesses of all sizes. Whether that’s using VoIP telephony solutions, video conferencing, cloud storage or cloud-based software, the requirement for a reliable lightning speed connection is now considered business critical.

CityFibre have worked hard to continue to build throughout the COVID pandemic and as a result their infrastructure is serving many businesses in Milton Keynes (and in many more Gigabit Cities across the UK), including Milton Keynes University Hospital with gigabit speed internet.

Our new online postcode checker allows you to do just that…

Check whether your business premises is able to access CityFibre’s gigabit speed network.

But that’s not to say that if your business is not close enough to the infrastructure CityFibre have built, you can’t access full fibre. Boxx can access a variety of supplier networks which means that we can provide the very best solutions for each and every customer.

Either way, we’re here to help fellow businesses of Milton Keynes and beyond, capitalise on the benefits that full fibre brings.

Boxx finalists in SME National Awards!

4th September 2020 by Kelly Green

Whilst 2020 has proved to be the most unpredictable of years, one thing that has remained consistent throughout is our determination to provide excellent service to each and every one of our customers, both existing and new...

We were thrilled to be recognised for our efforts in the MK & Bucks SME Awards back in February, where we won GOLD for ‘Service Excellence’, quickly followed by a finalist position in the prestigious MKBAA's for ‘Customer Service’ in March.

This month, we’re not only completing the hattrick, now we’re also 'going to Wembley!', where we’ve been announced as finalists in the SME National Awards again for ‘Service Excellence’.

James Green, Co-Owner at Boxx quotes:

Obviously with the current pandemic situation, the awards ceremony currently planned for December may end up needing to be rescheduled or take a different format, but despite any changes that may need to happen, we’re so proud of the team for the hard work they put in each and every day, and to recognised at a national level for their efforts, truly is an honour. Providing excellent service really is at the heart of everything we do here at Boxx and we’re delighted to be considered one of the best VoIP providers in Milton Keynes, as well as supplier of choice for gigabit internet in MK.

Dean Burgin, Co-Owner continues;

Since March, when lockdown was introduced and we were all advised to work from home wherever possible, we’ve not only helped our existing customers make the transition to remote working, but also taken on new clients with this as the priority focus. For some this was straightforward to implement, with the right tools, for others more of a challenge - But one we were happy to take on! We have made it our mission to ensure that the businesses we serve have access to the telecommunication services that will enable them to not only survive this year but also to plan ahead, post-COVID and fuel business growth in Milton Keynes and beyond.

Working with businesses large and small, providing telephony and internet connectivity in and around Milton Keynes, we work hard to make life easier for those who choose to work with us!

Don't just take our word for it, Trustpilot has hundreds of great reviews from our satisfied customers. Why not take a look at some below…

13th August 2020 by Kelly Green

Partnership will lead the way in bringing Gigabit speeds to MK...

We're thrilled to have been chosen by CityFibre as a City Champion for Milton Keynes and we will be working together to ensure all businesses and service organisations in our home-town are aware of, and have access to, the full fibre network that has been built by CityFibre.

A 5Gbps CityFibre connection has already been installed at Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH) to support the digital transformation of services, provide fast internet access to more than 5,500 staff and ensure that future plans to extend services can be implemented. We're ready to help other businesses and services in Milton Keynes take advantage of CityFibre’s full fibre speeds.

Dean Burgin, Co-Owner here at Boxx, believes that this is an ideal time to invest in modern, future-proof internet connectivity. “The last few months have been a challenge for everyone, but the potential for Milton Keynes to flourish is huge – and CityFibre’s full fibre offering can give businesses the streamlined connectivity they need to take full advantage of modern digital services and compete effectively. As a CityFibre City Champion, we are equipped and eager to help businesses do that and gain a real competitive edge as they look to bounce back after the Coronavirus pandemic and build strong, sustainable businesses.”

Ollie Chandler, Head of IT Technical Services at Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH), stated:

“The new full fibre connection has made a huge difference to the way we work. We are now able to run all our cloud-based applications, from anywhere and provide fast, reliable WiFi right across our facilities, without worrying about bandwidth – and we have more than enough capacity to accommodate our future plans. Boxx did an excellent and highly professional job and worked effectively with our team, in record timeframes. The service is already enabling real change and helping us to support MKUH in delivering high quality patient care services.”

Andrew Wilson, Head of Wholesale at CityFibre, added:

COVID-19 Emergency Communications Toolkit

23rd March 2020 by Kelly Green

As we delve further into these unprecedented times, even businesses with the most robust disaster contingency plans in place could not have predicted the challenges organisations across the whole world are now facing and the uncertainty of times ahead.

Technology has changed the game

With the right technology, tools and solutions in place, businesses and the teams within them, ARE able to function in new ways, so we’ve been busy working with our customers to implement remote working solutions to enable them to continue to communicate, collaborate and serve their own customers as efficiently as possible, away from the workplace.

A culture of working-from-home has long been embedded at Boxx, so we have been able to quickly make the change to work away from the office ourselves, with no impact to service.

But, we’re conscious that for many this hasn't been quite so easy, so we wanted to share some of ways we’re trying to help businesses through this unsettling period of change, in what we've called our COVID-19 Emergency Communications Toolkit…

Enabling working from home

It is our priority to support businesses in following the Government's ‘social distancing’ advice and encouraging people to 'work from home' wherever possible.

For customers using traditional or onsite telephony solutions, we are able to set up immediate call diverts so that telephone calls can be re-routed to mobile phones.

Call Divert

For businesses who have migrated to a Hosted VoIP solution, calls are accessible via the desktop and mobile applications, so making and receiving work calls from home is easy.

Both of our main Hosted VoIP suppliers also offer a unified communications (UC) upgrade which include additional features to increase remote working collaboration and productivity, such as instant message, conferencing, screen sharing, and corporate directory access.

To enable more businesses to take advantage of these UC features during this period, we are offering a FREE UC upgrade of either; 4 months on our Horizon ‘Collaborate’ solution, or 3 months on our HV Select ‘UC Teams’ solution. To find out more about this offer, you can register your interest here (link).

UC Upgrade

As you can imagine, there has been a massive increase in the number of businesses wanting to urgently move to Hosted VoIP since the ‘work from home’ recommendations were made.

Usually, number porting timescales mean that provisioning new orders isn’t instant. But, recognising the urgency of the task in hand we have introduced an interim solution in order to get businesses up and running fast. Find out more about our emergency VoIP migration service here.

VoIP Migration

To support users of Horizon ‘Collaborate’ and to ensure both speedy and seamless implementation, we’ve been holding webinars about how to optimise this UC solution. Find out dates of upcoming webinars and/or register your interest here.

Webinars

We’ve created a playlist of Horizon ‘Collaborate’ training videos on our YouTube channel to give additional support to users of this unified comms solution.

Communicating changes to customers

Whether you have had to make changes to your opening hours or need to advise of COVID-19 related restrictions that affect the way you do business, it is crucial to communicate this effectively to your customers.

We’ve introduced a half price Emergency Message offer to our professionally recorded on-hold message service, which advises your callers of any recent changes to the way your business is now operating, ensuring customers have access to up-to-date information and reducing the number of incoming phone calls and emails you need to answer.

On Hold Message

Our web listings service allows you to update your company information on 50+ online platforms, all in one go using a simple, easy-to-use dashboard.

To get customers up and running fast, with no initial cost, we’re offering 1 month FREE access to this service.

What next..?

Obviously, it is still very early days in this UK pandemic and things are changing at an alarming rate.

Even with the ground-breaking announcements from the government about how they plan to financially support the country, the long-term impact to businesses and indeed the UK (and even global) economy is still unknown.

Here at Boxx we are committed to following the #StrongerTogether mantra and will continue to listen to our customers and provide as much support as we can to enable them to continue to work effectively, throughout these unsettling times.

We are all in this together!
