2018 Pricing Information

7th December 2017 by admin

2018 Pricing InformationBT are (yet again) putting up their prices for Line Rental and Broadband in January 2018.

We however have decided to buck the industry trend to follow suit and instead we’ve frozen prices for these products, representing great value with what we feel, is a great service to boot. Just check out our Trustpilot reviews to see who agrees with us!

We have however, due to increased costs in other areas had to tweak a few prices of minor services.

Special Phone Book Entries (SPBEs)

A free-of-charge directory listing is provided as part of our Line Rental. However, there is the option to feature in additional directories and/or to choose a more superior listing.

If you have opted-in to one of these, prices from 1st Jan 2018 will look like this:

  • Directory Entry Ordinary – Local £18.10 *
  • Directory Entry Bold – Local £35.62 *
  • Directory Entry Super Bold – Local £69.14 *
  • Directory Entry Ordinary – All Books £848.66 *
  • Directory Entry Bold – All Books £1,771.11 *
  • Directory Entry Super Bold – All Books £2,882.67 *

Access Charge for calls to Non Geographic Numbers (NGNs)

Our standard access charge for calls to NGNs (from both fixed lines and IP services) will increase from 7.5p to 10p /minute * with effect from 1st Jan 2018.

Bill Production Charge

Our invoices are sent via email as standard. If you prefer a paper version, that’s fine there’s just a charge to cover admin & postage costs. This charge will be standardised to £3.50/month * from 1st Jan 2018.

Call Features

We offer the following call features to help you manage your inbound calls more effectively:

• Call Divert

• Caller Display

• Call Waiting

• 1571 Messaging Service

• Call Sign

• Call Barring

• Withheld Number

• Anonymous Call Rejection

• Call Minder

From 1st Jan 2018, these will all be charged at £3.50/month *.

Non-Direct Debit

Payments are collected by Direct Debit as standard. If you don’t want to pay by Direct Debit, that’s fine. There’s just a £5/month * ‘Non DD’ charge to cover the admin costs.

We’re proud of the fact that we have kept our headline product prices static for yet another year and we’ve worked hard to make sure that we are in a position to do this.

If you have any questions about our pricing or would like to discuss any of our services, a brain boxx will be happy to help. Just give us a call on 01908 350750.

  • All prices are subject to VAT.

Herd about MK: Boxx’s story

15th November 2017 by admin

Herd about MK: Boxx's storyWith Christmas on the horizon and New Year just beyond; the end of arguably the most exciting year in Milton Keynes’ history fast approaches.

A wealth of events contributed to making the City’s 50th its finest with, perhaps the most poignant being, Herd about MK. A charity with events spanning the course of the year – the project had three aims: bring the community closer together, celebrate MK’s 50th birthday and; most importantly, raise money for 3 incredibly worthy charities. Willen Hospice, MK Dons SET and the MK community foundation.

The project exceeded all expectations – becoming synonymous throughout town, and even made it onto the BBC News. But, just in case you haven’t ‘Herd about MK’ here’s our summary of the event of the year…

After hearing about the opportunity to sponsor one of 50 life size cows, symbolic of MK, we knew that we had to get on board! In addition to the unique nature of this opportunity the chance to raise so much money for charity and attend a magnitude of incredible events was simply unmissable.

Becoming aware of the ‘Herd’ relatively late: we were a little rushed for time in getting our cow looking udderly fabulous. Fortunately, thanks to the help of co-sponsors Cygnus and Format Graphics, we were all set for the big reveal.

Naming, on the other hand, proved a little more difficult! After much mooing and erring we finally settled upon Moopheus – the much wiser and older sister of Morpheus (Just joking).

Moopheus’ first public appearance came in March, when the Herd were unveiled by sponsors to a gathering crowd at Middleton Hall. The reaction was definitely one to remember as the moovelous cows were exposed. Following the extensive photo and video shoots, from both sponsors and shoppers, the herd stayed put for the weekend and provided visitors with a new source of excitement during their shopping trips.

Following their stay in the CMK shopping centre, a select 27 members of the herd were transported to Stadium MK, home of the MK Dons, to cheer the side on in their final home game of the season.
The Stadium wasn’t just the venue for the penultimate Dons outing but also as the finish line for the 2017 Milton Keynes Marathon. Naturally, the heard stayed put to cheer the runners home as well as support friends and family as they eagerly awaited the arrival of their runners.

While the Herd were out raising money so were 50 skydivers, jumping from 13,000 ft, to raise money for Willen Hospice; they raised an incredible £19,000 between them!

Following a quieter couple of months Moopheus made an appearance at the Garden Show held at Woburn Abbey in late June, providing visitors with Wi-Fi connection throughout their visit to the prestigious venue and popular event.

The herd continued to create a buzz about MK throughout the summer – this time participating in a city-wide game of hide and seek, designed especially to keep the kids on school holidays thoroughly entertained. Despite her busy schedule Moopheus was still able to join us for our family fun day at the Navigation Inn, once again keeping the kids entertained, alongside the Instavan Photobooth.

An exclusive race day between the sponsors at Daytona was next in the diary. In late September each sponsor entered a team of four drivers who competed against one another throughout the day. After a valiant effort from Boxx we finished in 11th place. Despite the disappointing finish it was an awesome day and it’s fair to say that everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

After months of incredible events the grand finale felt as though it came all too soon. A huge Gala dinner, at the Arena MK, hosted all the sponsors and herd alike. In addition to the fantastic 3 course meal, 50 strong herd and live music entertainment – there was a charity auction which, despite some interesting pieces, helped to raise a significant amount of money for the chosen charities.
All who attended had a fantastic time, some a little too fantastic, making the event a truly great way for ‘Herd about MK’ to bow out.

Despite the end of the year’s big project – neither the memories nor achievements will be forgotten, as the cows now reside with the businesses who sponsored them. Moopheus is free to graze and be seen outside our offices, so feel free to pop down and say hello to her anytime!

Hack-a-thon: You spoke, we listened

4th October 2017 by admin

Hack-a-thon: You spoke, we listenedFeedback is really important to us, which is why we’re such big fans of Trustpilot. Whilst our Trustpilot score (currently 9.4/10) is outstanding, there is always room for improvement…

We decided to dig deep and look at the root cause of our complaints, which highlighted that customers were unhappy about costs that result from faults to either their line or equipment.

Our charges for a BT Openreach call-out are £145 + VAT per line and that can soon mount up! Whilst our charges have always been clearly explained in our T&C’s, no one is ever happy with that news. We wanted to do something to alleviate this, and to educate our customers in terms of their financial responsibility when things go wrong.

Our team like a challenge – so we decided to put it to them in what we dubbed our product ‘hack-a-thon’. We chose a handful of staff members, from various departments, with different levels of experience in order to give a real ‘back-to-the-floor’ viewpoint.

We tasked them with the following:

To create one or multiple products that would directly resolve the issue identified and improve the value of the service we offer to our customers.

They had to think with an ‘end-to-end’ viewpoint covering the whole process – from product conception to costs of delivery & sales, marketing, training, launch & beyond.

Our first ‘hack-a-thon’ group comprised of Emily (Sales), Leah (Customer Service), Akeem (Tech Support) & James (Marketing). We locked them in a room (ok we didn’t actually lock them in!) for 2.5 hours where they discussed, debated, planned and postulated product ideas & names until they agreed, resulting in two product offerings.

Our second group included Salma (Provisioning), Jamie (Tech Support Supervisor), Saiesh (Credit Control) & Emma (Customer Account Manager) and were given the same amount of time together and had a really productive session. They came up with a third suggestion, as well as pricing and draft terms for the previous group’s ideas.

This is the first time we’ve done something like this. Normally new products & services are driven from the top down, but it was great to see the team so passionate and being as though they have the closest contact with our customers, the resulting new products really have been designed to meet their exact needs.

So, what did the team come up with during their collaborative thinking sessions?.. Well here goes;

  • No engineer call-out charges in the event of a fault
  • Care Level 2 included
  • Cost £1.49 per line

  • Replacement router sent next day service in the event of a router fault
  • Cost £3.50 per ADSL connection or £5.50 per FTTC connection

  • All the benefits of Router Care, plus
  • Special Faults Investigator Engineering included
  • Care Level 3 included for the PSTN line the broadband is supplied on
  • Sonar 24/7 monitoring
  • Cost £10 per connection

We’re thrilled with what our team have come up with and hope you are too. In fact we’re so hyped about Line Care in particular, that we’re offering one month FREE to all customers in November. If anyone wants to opt out after that just let us know, but we think you’ll love it as much as we do!

As for Router Care or Complete Care, that’s a choice up to you. If you’re interested get in touch and we’ll happily talk you through it and/or get it set up for you.

And we’ll definitely be doing a hack-a-thon again in the future!!

Improving our Service

6th September 2017 by admin

Improving our ServiceIt might only just be back to school this week but we’ve been busy this summer!

In response to customer feedback, we’ve implemented some important changes to make working with us even easier.

Firstly, we were told that customers found our introduction to answering the phone a little frustrating. We used to say, “Can I have your account number please?” and then “How can I help?”

This was particularly frustrating for customers who needed to talk to the last person they spoke with and quickly. So we listened, and we changed.

Now we say “How can I help?” before we ask for you to verify your identity.

This has improved our customer contact scores and we are grateful to Claire Ranger of Hammond and Dummer Opticians for pointing out what is a relatively simple change, but has made a huge impact.

Second to that, in August, we promoted Salma to Project Manager. She now ensures that all new contracts are perfect, and that orders are completed on time and on budget. Well done Salma, you’re the best!

Salma: Project Manager

Finally, we have updated and improved our ordering process using e-sign instead of verbal recordings to verify orders, and updated our Terms and Conditions to cover all the products we sell.

Feedback from our customers suggested that having multiple agreements for each service was confusing and unnecessary. So we set to work on developing a master service agreement which covers everything from line rental and broadband, to complex leased lines and private data circuits. All in one document!

We haven’t changed any pricing or your minimum terms. We have just made it easier for you to do business with us.

All your services, in one Boxx!

The top 5 marketing tools we can’t live without…

23rd August 2017 by admin

The top 5 marketing tools we can’t live without...Businesses rely on many things to keep them innovating and ticking over – marketing tools are becoming an increasingly important part of the mix.

Here is a summary of our five favourites we simply cannot live without:

Trustpilot

https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiZwuuv1-3VAhUG5xoKHfG3CzsQjRwIBw&url=https%3A%2F%2Fblog.salecycle.com%2Fstrategies%2F10-ways-to-use-your-online-reputation-in-your-marketing%2F&psig=AFQjCNGdd680f6efn8wG0jxzmyXt46INug&ust=1503588923526001

This global reviews website provides us with valuable, ongoing feedback – whether it’s good, bad or down right ugly. Luckily, it’s mostly good!

We love the transparency which means that anyone can see the reviews posted – and the honest, unbiased nature of the reviews themselves.

Our customers are mainly happy bunnies, and our score is ever-increasing, but we are not complacent and are determined to keep our product offering and customer service levels as high as ever. Constant feedback helps us do that.

Ultimately, it is only through opening ourselves up to feedback, whatever that is, that we will keep learning and growing as a business – and Trustpilot is the best way that we’ve found to do this.

Sharpspring

https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjfp66X1-3VAhWB7BQKHYG3Au0QjRwIBw&url=https%3A%2F%2Fsharpspring.com%2Fidentity%2F&psig=AFQjCNHRUXfYJ6Z-GIOKiN-5qNbNXJXRyg&ust=1503588871842467

If you’re looking for a no-hassle, automated marketing solution, then this is for you.

We initially used it as an email marketing tool, but it also comes with a whole host of additional features that really do set it apart from others on the market. Built in CRM, landing pages and website visitor identification to name but a few!

Setting up workflows to automatically send emails in pre-defined circumstances is a big time saver for us and means we have more time to spend using it to drive leads and convert sales. And it’s affordable too!

Google Analytics

https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiW1oaF1-3VAhVPnRQKHeTqC70QjRwIBw&url=https%3A%2F%2Fdevelopers.google.com%2Fanalytics%2Fterms%2Fbranding-policy&psig=AFQjCNF1t8i5gA9-5p5q39L1QES63lamWQ&ust=1503588834152223

This might sound like an obvious one, but it really is gold dust for your business.

We all know the volume and sources of your website traffic, both organic and any pay-per-click, are important metrics to measure, but Google Analytics allows you to slice and dice this data pretty much any way you want to drill right down into what matters to you.

The dashboard can look quite daunting at first, but Google does offer training to get you started. Alternatively, you can outsource to experts who specialise in this so that they can analyse your data for you.

Lead Forensics

https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwi5uO3I1-3VAhVCXRQKHYxmCIMQjRwIBw&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.crunchbase.com%2Forganization%2Flead-forensics&psig=AFQjCNErEgPxrwLNzyEDEs10PFCbCRj6jQ&ust=1503588975841031

While Google Analytics is great for an overview, the paid-for Lead Forensics is very insightful and gives you more specific information about site visitors, including contact information, demographics and search behaviour.

Sign up to receive instant notifications if existing clients visit your site, or browse through a list of visitors to your site to identify new sales opportunities, among a host of other targeting options. This really is one that does pay for itself again and again and again.

Canva

https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwi-tfzm1u3VAhUJXRoKHVkOAqoQjRwIBw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fahnahendrix.com%2Fcanva-the-content-creation-tool-you-cant-live-without%2F&psig=AFQjCNG_8bhu79D4Z-O7h40Px7z2kK1Wng&ust=1503588766526996

Last but definitely not least Canva.

We love this site – it’s like having your own in-house graphic designer, yet it’s so easy to use. Whether you want to create a funky graphic for social media, design news business cards or put together a more complex brochure, there are a wealth of templates to choose from.

By opting for the business ‘Canva-for-work’ package you can upload your logo, fonts and brand colours to your account and you’re ready to start creating. Our marketing team use this for everything we do internally.

These 5 are our firm favourites at the moment – but do tell us any gems you’ve found that you think we should know about as well!

Digital detoxing revolution births the dumb phone

3rd May 2017 by admin

Digital detoxing revolution births the dumb phoneHas technology got so smart and all-consuming that the only natural step is to ditch it and revert back to simpler, less-connected times?

Digital detoxes and tech free time are becoming increasingly popular as more people awake to the fact that always being online and constantly connected is more of a stress than a boon.

It’s a subject that is back under the microscope following news that the hottest new gadget on the block this summer won’t be the latest smartphone, but it’s older, dumber cousin – the Nokia 3310.

A relic from the days when mobiles were all about texting and long battery life, the 3310 has no WiFi, GPS connectivity (gasp!) or ability to add apps – yet it’s still one of the most anticipated releases this year.

The digital detox trend is one that handset manufacturers have started to pick up on, with an increasing number of phones on the market that make a virtue of how few features they have. These ‘dumb’ phones are often targeting the older generations, but are finding new fans among the young, too, as they cotton on to the fact that always being available online makes it hard to truly relax.

The 3310 and other, similar, handsets offer a return to a less complex time – when anyone with your contact details could get hold of you, but you didn’t feel compelled to answer even if it was an email from your boss at the weekend as there was no expectation that you’d have seen it.

The pressure of posting, commenting or liking posts on social media is eradicated through the absence of WiFi and GPS connectivity, leaving more time to live in the moment and enjoy the company of those around you instead of being glued to a screen. The new 3310, unlike the original, does feature a camera so you won’t have to worry about missing out on memorable snaps which can be uploaded at a more convenient time.

Being ‘offline’ for hours at a time will certainly be very stressful for some, maybe even unbearable, so while full-on digital detoxing is not for everyone, there are some steps that we can all take to minimise technologies impact on our overall health and well-being.

-If detoxing isn’t for you, perhaps consider moderating your use, especially before bedtime, to give your brain a chance to recharge like your phone but in a separate room to minimise the temptation to surf the web into the small hours.

-Having a gadget free day when work permits can also be very freeing – even just reducing the number of push notifications so you don’t feel compelled to answer everything the second it comes in makes a big difference too.

-Many platforms now come with do not disturb hours as well – so even if you can’t give up on tech completely, you can make sure that you’re the one in control.
