Horizon Service Outage

15th November 2018 by admin

Horizon Service OutageYesterday Horizon users experienced a severe service outage.

Firstly and foremost we want to sincerely apologise for the disruption this caused to you, our customers.

GAMMA Horizon’s Andy Morris (COO) issued the following statement;

“We fully recognise the critical nature that communications play in the day-to-day operation of an organisation, however large or small. Wednesday’s issue was an extraordinary event and in no way represents our historical performance.”

Here at Boxx we live and breathe this product, so experienced the same frustrations yesterday. However, Horizon is still a product we firmly believe in.

We choose to work with GAMMA over and above other hosted telephony suppliers because of their commitment to and continued investment into their network. On this occasion the issue was unprecedented and appears to be related to a software bug. In over 7 years, this is the first time an issue like this has occurred, which is an outstanding record of resilience.

In saying the above, we do not underestimate the severity & impact on your business. We absolutely respect the critical nature and all of our staff have been committed to dealing with the situation.

This morning we were invited to attend a webinar with GAMMA, who have been very open & forthcoming about what caused the problems yesterday.

Andy Morris reassured us with these comments;

“The underlying root cause is fully understood and we have no reason to believe we will not be able to continue to support the high levels of service you rightfully expect.”

We of course understand that it was an incredible difficult time yesterday and feedback provided to us this morning by some of our customers indicates that we could have communicated with you better.

A situation like this brings spotlight to disaster recovery plans and we now intend to revisit our own processes, so that we are able to provide information to our customers more quickly.

We would also recommend that all businesses review their own contingency plans – covering all business functions, including telecommunications. Account managers here will be to looking to discuss your telephony disaster recovery plans with you in the coming weeks.

How We’re Growing Our Team

28th September 2018 by admin

How We're Growing Our TeamTelecommunications is becoming an even more vital part of modern business as we become evermore connected to the internet. As a result, we’ve recently undergone a recruitment push so that we can expand our sales team and meet the growing demand for telephony & connectivity solutions.

We were looking to fill a variety of roles within the sales department, ranging from Junior Sales Executives up to Business Development Managers, so we wanted to get our name out to a large number of people. We decided a great way to do this would be to exhibit at the 10th MK Job Show in Middleton Hall, Central Milton Keynes.

MK Job Show

The MK Job Show ran on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th September and there were many local businesses exhibiting there, from Frosts to Costco.

We met so many different people, all quality candidates, who were enthusiastic about a career in sales and telecoms, so we decided to follow up with a recruitment open day.

Friday 21st September was a chance for the people we met to come and chat in more detail about the roles and get a feel for the office, what we do and how we like to work.

Once again, this was another successful day and we were thrilled that the whole experience resulted in some excellent interviews, job offers being made and exciting times ahead for those joining team Boxx in the not-to-distant future!

We’re a Top Performing Supplier on Trustpilot!

31st August 2018 by admin

We're a Top Performing Supplier on Trustpilot!Back in July, Ofcom released the results of a customer service survey they undertook at the end of 2017, with the topic being the performance of the major broadband and telephony providers.

Even though this focused on residential suppliers, there is still a lot of things that we can take from this, including industry averages for complaints, service ratings, waiting times on calls and more.

While this doesn’t relate to us directly, surveys such as this show customers that it’s wise to do your research when looking for a broadband or mobile supplier – there’s plenty of choice!

That is where a tool like Trustpilot can help!

Trustpilot is perfect for supplier research as each company profile is built on reviews from users, so you can grasp a company’s reputation from actual user experience. You can also compare companies based on their industries and their overall score.

Here at Boxx, we’re always pushing ourselves to offer the best customer service possible by being friendly and caring whilst also being efficient.

Our efforts have been noticed by our customers; many of them have left us reviews on our Trustpilot page.

*As a result, we have almost 500 reviews at the time of publishing this, and our Trustpilot score is at 9.5 out of 10!

Not only is this a remarkable score that we are hugely proud of, but it puts us as a leading telecoms provider on Trustpilot which is a massive achievement!

In the IP Telephony category, we are currently placed in 10th! One of the companies that is similar to us is bOnline and they are placed at 25th on the same list.

On the Internet Providers list we are placed 3rd! To put that into context against some of the larger businesses, XLN are 18th on this list and TalkTalk is 52nd.

Finally, on the telecommunications list we are placed in 14th position. That puts us in the top ten telecommunications suppliers in the South East and number 1 in the Beds, Bucks and Herts area!

Telecoms list ranking in Beds, Bucks and Herts

We are very proud of our score on Trustpilot and our ranking within the site. It comes as a reward for all the hard work the whole team at Boxx has put in to offer 5-star customer service and a wonderful customer experience overall.

GDPR has arrived!

23rd May 2018 by admin

The Gigabit Voucher SchemeHere at Boxx, we are excited to be helping businesses grow by providing access to super-fast 1Gbps internet connectivity!

Equal to 1000Mbps and multiple times faster than most businesses currently operate with, it is a massive leap forwards in terms of connectivity speed which can benefit businesses, both now and into the future.

For businesses looking to move to cloud-based applications, or for those who already do, this dedicated business grade offering brings vast opportunities to improve productivity and intensify growth.

In parallel with the availability of 1Gbps fibre in cities across the country, the UK Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport have launched a ‘Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme’ whereby businesses can apply for a grant of up to £3000* to upgrade to gigabit capable infrastructure.

The scheme has been given a budget of £67m to drive forward their vision of a full fibre Britain.

The Government recognise that gigabit speed is a key step for most businesses and demand for greater digital connectivity is set to accelerate in future years.

Businesses eligible for the ‘Gigabit Voucher Scheme’ include those who employ fewer than 250 people and have an annual turnover not exceeding 50m Euros.

For businesses with a growth strategy, gigabit internet connection yields many benefits including supporting symmetrical connections, meaning upload and download speeds can be the same – making cloud-based applications much more efficient.

If you have a large or growing team, use cloud-based applications or simply require faster, more reliable connectivity, we can advise whether 1Gbps connectivity is available and/or most suitable for your business and we can assist you in an application for the Government’s ‘Gigabit Voucher Scheme’!

Just get in touch!

*As of November 12th 2018, The DCMS have reduced the amount given out from £3000 to £2500.
