The top 5 marketing tools we can’t live without…

23rd August 2017 by admin

The top 5 marketing tools we can’t live without...Businesses rely on many things to keep them innovating and ticking over – marketing tools are becoming an increasingly important part of the mix.

Here is a summary of our five favourites we simply cannot live without:

Trustpilot

https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiZwuuv1-3VAhUG5xoKHfG3CzsQjRwIBw&url=https%3A%2F%2Fblog.salecycle.com%2Fstrategies%2F10-ways-to-use-your-online-reputation-in-your-marketing%2F&psig=AFQjCNGdd680f6efn8wG0jxzmyXt46INug&ust=1503588923526001

This global reviews website provides us with valuable, ongoing feedback – whether it’s good, bad or down right ugly. Luckily, it’s mostly good!

We love the transparency which means that anyone can see the reviews posted – and the honest, unbiased nature of the reviews themselves.

Our customers are mainly happy bunnies, and our score is ever-increasing, but we are not complacent and are determined to keep our product offering and customer service levels as high as ever. Constant feedback helps us do that.

Ultimately, it is only through opening ourselves up to feedback, whatever that is, that we will keep learning and growing as a business – and Trustpilot is the best way that we’ve found to do this.

Sharpspring

https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjfp66X1-3VAhWB7BQKHYG3Au0QjRwIBw&url=https%3A%2F%2Fsharpspring.com%2Fidentity%2F&psig=AFQjCNHRUXfYJ6Z-GIOKiN-5qNbNXJXRyg&ust=1503588871842467

If you’re looking for a no-hassle, automated marketing solution, then this is for you.

We initially used it as an email marketing tool, but it also comes with a whole host of additional features that really do set it apart from others on the market. Built in CRM, landing pages and website visitor identification to name but a few!

Setting up workflows to automatically send emails in pre-defined circumstances is a big time saver for us and means we have more time to spend using it to drive leads and convert sales. And it’s affordable too!

Google Analytics

https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiW1oaF1-3VAhVPnRQKHeTqC70QjRwIBw&url=https%3A%2F%2Fdevelopers.google.com%2Fanalytics%2Fterms%2Fbranding-policy&psig=AFQjCNF1t8i5gA9-5p5q39L1QES63lamWQ&ust=1503588834152223

This might sound like an obvious one, but it really is gold dust for your business.

We all know the volume and sources of your website traffic, both organic and any pay-per-click, are important metrics to measure, but Google Analytics allows you to slice and dice this data pretty much any way you want to drill right down into what matters to you.

The dashboard can look quite daunting at first, but Google does offer training to get you started. Alternatively, you can outsource to experts who specialise in this so that they can analyse your data for you.

Lead Forensics

https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwi5uO3I1-3VAhVCXRQKHYxmCIMQjRwIBw&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.crunchbase.com%2Forganization%2Flead-forensics&psig=AFQjCNErEgPxrwLNzyEDEs10PFCbCRj6jQ&ust=1503588975841031

While Google Analytics is great for an overview, the paid-for Lead Forensics is very insightful and gives you more specific information about site visitors, including contact information, demographics and search behaviour.

Sign up to receive instant notifications if existing clients visit your site, or browse through a list of visitors to your site to identify new sales opportunities, among a host of other targeting options. This really is one that does pay for itself again and again and again.

Canva

https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwi-tfzm1u3VAhUJXRoKHVkOAqoQjRwIBw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fahnahendrix.com%2Fcanva-the-content-creation-tool-you-cant-live-without%2F&psig=AFQjCNG_8bhu79D4Z-O7h40Px7z2kK1Wng&ust=1503588766526996

Last but definitely not least Canva.

We love this site – it’s like having your own in-house graphic designer, yet it’s so easy to use. Whether you want to create a funky graphic for social media, design news business cards or put together a more complex brochure, there are a wealth of templates to choose from.

By opting for the business ‘Canva-for-work’ package you can upload your logo, fonts and brand colours to your account and you’re ready to start creating. Our marketing team use this for everything we do internally.

These 5 are our firm favourites at the moment – but do tell us any gems you’ve found that you think we should know about as well!

Getting feedback – the good, the bad and the ugly

9th August 2017 by admin

Getting feedback – the good, the bad and the uglyMaking it easy for customers to give you feedback, both good and bad, is one of the most important things a business can do at this time to learn and grow…..

We use Trustpilot, which easily enables us to obtain open and honest reviews from our customers.

And we’re thrilled with our ever-increasingly Trustpilot score (currently 9.3), which shows us ,and potential new clients, that our customers are generally pretty happy bunnies.

Trustpilot has become a globally-recognised platform, with reviews for 165,000 businesses, including some of the world’s biggest names such as Walmart and Amazon.

Its USP is simple but very effective – complete transparency for those leaving feedback, which in turn makes it a very useful site for consumers or businesses looking for honest and unbiased reviews.

We’re not normally into self promotion, preferring to let our products do the talking, but on this occasion we’re so far ahead of our competitors including BT, BT Business, Talk Talk Business and XLN that we feel the need to shout about it! Not least because it shows both current clients and would-be customers that they are so much better off doing business with Boxx.

“It was a pleasant surprise to contact a helpline manned by a friendly human who actually wanted to help rather than a telephone answering machine which referred you to their website.”

“The communication and assistance given by Boxx was excellent, very good company to deal with would recommend 100%”

“The technical support was perfect today. Thanks”

“Super service from Boxx – as ever! Consistently excellent customer service and product. So glad to have found them.”

But don’t just take their word for it – or the other 240 reviews on our page, for that matter – give us a try for yourself!

Latest Scam: Missed calls

28th July 2017 by admin

Latest Scam: Missed callsWhen you get a missed call on your mobile from a number you don’t recognise, the obvious temptation is to dial it straight back to see who is trying to contact you. But beware…

Because actually it could be a scam, and returning the call could leave you seriously out of pocket!
Scammers carrying out these frauds typically use automated systems to dial mobile numbers – but the call lasts less than a second and so comes up as a missed call.

These types of calls will most often be from a number beginning 070 or 076 (which look like mobile numbers but cost considerably more to call) or from non-geographic numbers such as those beginning 084, 087, 090, 091 or 118.

The scammers often set up these numbers solely for the purpose of fleecing others.

Anyone who does call the number back is charged for as long as they’re on the phone – so think twice before returning a missed call from a number you don’t know, particularly if it features one of the above numbers.

Bear in mind that if someone genuinely needs to get hold of you, they will leave a voicemail or try again later.

If you’ve noticed a suspicious number;

• Remove the number from your call log so you don’t need to worry about dialling it accidentally, for example when your phone is in your pocket.

• You can also bar calls to international and premium rate numbers if you wish – speak to your mobile provider for advice on how to do this.

• If you believe you have fallen victim to a missed call scam, you should also contact Action Fraud, the UK’s national fraud reporting centre.

Awareness is key when it comes to tackling these fraudsters

Ten key benefits of using VoIP for your business

14th July 2017 by admin

Ten key benefits of using VoIP for your businessWe’ve talked previously about Ofcom’s plans to migrate away from traditional-style telephone lines here in the UK within the next few years and we’ve also talked about VoIP being the future of telecoms.

Aside from being the industry’s solution of choice for the foreseeable, what are the benefits to users and business owners…?

Read on to learn some of the key benefits of moving away from fixed lines:

1) Lower Costs – Switching to VoIP will immediately lower costs as calls are made over the internet, rather than traditional telephone lines which are expensive to maintain. Our packages can be customised to suit your business needs, including handsets and inclusive minutes if required.

2) Flexibility – Downloading the app allows your mobile to double up as your landline. Which means you can take calls anytime, any-place and anywhere it suits – no-one will be able to tell. Perfect for those who don’t want to be chained to a desk or who are running a business around family or other commitments.

3) Reduced Mobile Costs – If you’ve got the VoIP app installed, you can also make calls over the internet as well as receiving them. And because you’re not using the mobile network, there’s no additional costs to you.

4) HD Quality – Because VoIP calls are made over the internet rather than older telephone lines, the quality is higher, resulting in a much clearer conversation.

5) Bring Your Own Device – Employees using their existing mobile devices not only cuts costs, but also increases workforce flexibility and productivity by allowing them to work on the move and when it suits them.

6) Feature Rich – VoIP is not just a functional and modern call system, it also features a huge range of additional features to enhance the benefits it brings to your business, including hunt groups, auto attendant, call divert, a chat function, caller display, hold music and many more!

7) Web-based Admin – System admin can also be accessed remotely via the app or desktop portal, once again increasing your business flexibility.

8) User Friendly – a very simple and intuitive desktop portal and mobile app make VoIP easy for anyone to get to grips with, no matter how technology phobic they might be!

9) Business Continuity – When your system is cloud-based, it won’t be affected by any natural disasters such as fires or floods that can hit a physical, office-based system.

10) Future proof – With VoIP, you’re ready for telephony both now and in the future – and won’t need to upgrade when, for example, ISDN lines become obsolete within the next 7-8 years.

Tempted…? Then get in touch to see what VoIP can do for you!

Life-Hack Apps

14th June 2017 by admin

Life-Hack AppsWe’re all trying to fit more and more into our lives in the quest to have it all, which means there’s a premium on hints and tips that save us time. And all the better if they come in app form!

With that in mind, here’s our look at some of the best organisational apps out there:

1) Laundrapp

Household tasks can drain us of time and energy, yet are easily outsourced. Say goodbye to washing and ironing with Laundrapp, which collects your washing, cleans it and then delivers it back to your doorstep – what’s not to love? It’s only available across some of the UK now but is expanding fast, so keep an eye out where you are.

2) Taskrabbit

Fed up with trying to get those irritating jobs done around the house? Taskrabbit is the answer, matching local tradespeople to jobs that need doing. Just choose what you need, and when you want it doing, and the site will match you up with someone appropriate.

3) Trello

If your DIY needs are a bit more complicated – say planning a major house renovation of some kind – then Trello could help. Boards help you keep track of every step, and you can assign jobs and deadlines as well as move projects through a lifecycle to completion. Trello is also great for managing projects at work too. Use it to collaborate with colleagues and/or clients alike to drive productivity.

4) Evernote

If you’re still at the very early planning stages of something big, whether it’s house-related or to do with work, then Evernote is great for keeping track of all your ideas. Organise ideas by notes, and sync and share them where you like so they are always with you.

5) Trip It

If, like us, you’d always rather be planning a holiday, then Trip It is great – you just forward all your booking emails on and the app transforms them into a master itinerary with every detail marked out. Magic.

6) Playground Buddy

If you’re away and finding things to occupy the kids a bit of a strain – the playground buddy app lists all the playgrounds close to your location, and operates worldwide!

7) Forest App

Sometimes you just need to get off you phone and get your head down and concentrate. Forest App is great for that. Simply decide how long you need, and set the timer – a tree will start growing on your screen which will be killed if you scroll away to something else before the designated time is up.

8) Headspace

It’s all very well being organised, but we’re all still living life at a very fast pace which can make it hard to relax into sleep at night. Headspace is a meditation app, which has variety of sessions for you to listen too, all with the aim of making you more mindful and less stressed.

So start taking back control of your life, as well as leaving time for the fun stuff you want to do!

How to keep your children safe on the web

17th May 2017 by admin

How to keep your children safe on the webThe official Safer Internet Day may have passed again for this year, but it’s such an important topic in today’s digitally-advanced world that we should be having these conversations all the time.

Digital technology has many positive uses for all of the population, with the internet a wonderful resource for learning and discovering, as well as staying connected with far-flung family and friends.

Unfortunately there is a dark side too – and children, more naive and trusting than their elders need the most protection from that as well as the according help to navigate this vast online world.

Add to this the fact that going online has become the most popular media activity for children of all ages, surpassing television, making time for conversations about the importance of staying safe online is clear to see.

One excellent resource we have found is this worksheet, produced by Ofcom to assist parents and teachers with conversations concerning this area, which focuses on the types of images most often seen online – going over what we can expect to see online, and what we should do if we come across anything unpleasant or disturbing.

It follows Ofcom research showing that children are becoming more trusting of what they see online, but sometimes lack the experience to decide whether it is true or impartial.

The research also reveals that children aged 8-15 are spending more than twice as much time online as they did a decade ago, reaching over 15 hours each week in 2015.

Even so-called digital natives, who have grown up with the internet, need educating in its quirks, with the same research finding that one in five online 12-15s (19%) believe information returned by a search engine such as Google or Bing must be true, despite only 31% of them being able to identify paid-for adverts in these results.

We must never lose sight of the fact that the internet has brought huge benefits to our lives, but teaching our children to traverse it with care, and question everything they see, brings a sensible balance to all our lives.
